I’ve written about this before, but I read a quote the other day that made me realize how powerful our God truly is. The quote from Ullie-Kaye read, “We are promised a path where we never imagined one.” I think as Christians, we often believe that because we know God, we are automatically exempt from bad things happening to us. We believe that if God is on our side, we always win.
This is true eternally speaking, but not on this side of heaven. We are told in the Bible in 1 Peter 5:8 that Satan is looking to harm us: “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” You see, the closer we are to God, the more it angers the devil, and makes him want to do everything he can to make us turn our backs on God. But thankfully, if we put our faith and our hope in God, we can withstand any scheme the devil throws against us. John 16:33 reads, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Satan will continue to place obstacles and roadblocks in our way; he will torment us so badly that at times we begin to wonder where God is, and why he’s not taking our trouble away. But God, like any good teacher, is quiet during the test, and doesn’t just hand over the answer key and tell us what to do. He has already given us the ultimate study guide: His word. In it, contains all the information for this test and every test we’ll ever take for the rest of our lives. We simply have to believe, and trust that God is not going to let Satan win- not then, not now, not ever.
I can’t count the number of times I thought all hope was lost, and God paved a clear path to victory out of nowhere. Because despite what the devil wants us to believe, God has never left our side. He is paving out a way for us. And Satan will be left scratching his head, saying, “What? Huh?”, as we walk down the detour route that God constructed just for us. That way that was the only way out, through fires and forests filled with dreadful beasts, and raging seas, is now the yellow brick road when we walk onto it with God at our sides. He is making a way for each of us. No matter what we’re facing, God is bigger and stronger than all of it, and we just need to hold close to him and trust that, just as he promises, he’s got this. Because our God is the ultimate waymaker, and nothing is impossible for him.
