Great is Thy Faithfulness

Do you ever have days when your worries and fears are all that you can think about? Days when life feels so overwhelming, and there are no solutions in sight. This needs to happen as soon as possible, but that needs to be taken care of first. Do you have days when you just want to run away from everything, your worries left behind in the dust to rot in the scorching sun? But as believers, we have hope. The author of Lamentations 3 writes about the pain and suffering he is undergoing, calling out to God in anguish and distress. However, we then see his perspective shift in verses 20-26.

He writes, “My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.”

If we continue to trust God, that he is working everything out for our good, we will see, time and time again, that his plan for our lives is perfect and unfathomably incredible. If we have the Lord on our side, we don’t need to worry. He is an all-knowing, all-powerful God who always hears our cries to him, even if he is silent. Oftentimes, the best of God’s attacks on the enemy trying to cause destruction in our lives, are those sneak attacks that the devil doesn’t see coming. Just as Satan’s nearly convinced us that God has given up on us for good this time, God sends in his snipers, thwarting all evil. Reminding us, parachuting down and scooping us up in his arms once more. As the writer of Lamentations 3 reminds us, we will never be consumed by our fears, as long as we continue to put not only our trust, but our hope in him.

Even though the world around us may disappoint us, God never leaves us. Don’t lose your hope in God. Let your heart rejoice in him every morning and watch in awe, how he works in your life, crying out, “Great is thy faithfulness, O Lord!”
