This too Shall Pass

I have come to the conclusion that concentrating only on the bad things in life makes us feel as if we are overcome by them. If we only focus on the darkness that surrounds us in this world, we will give up, instead of pushing forward.

And if we give up, we will never see that the light at the end of the tunnel would’ve been visible, if we’d only chosen to keep going and had taken just a few more steps. Nothing on this earth lasts forever. Every hard time comes to an end. Every seemingly impossible task comes to a completion. We have to fix our eyes on God, and keep reminding ourselves that, “This too shall pass”.

Jesus states in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me shall not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Jesus is saying that in order to live in a world of light, we must follow him, the light of the world. We must choose to fix our eyes on him, and not the darkness that surrounds us. When we do this, our whole game changes.

Suddenly, we can see the clear path to the endzone, and we can conquer any tackle thrown at us. No matter how daunting the tasks piling up on our to-do-list seem, no matter how terrible and tragic the world around us is becoming, no matter how much the devil taunts us, we must choose to keep our focus on the good, on the light of the world, on Jesus.
